Shantie

It was pregnancy that introduced me to Yoga about 20 years ago.

I was living in Sydney, Australia at the time and without the safety net of family or friends. I felt that Yoga might fill that gap, teach me how to move this growing body and make new friends at the same time.

Yoga offered me health and strength, a welcoming, supportive and loving community, a home away from home. Yoga taught me how to cope better, to be more myself, to appreciate and respect my body and to believe that I could accomplish anything as long as I tried. It was just what I needed living so far away from home and feeling so vulnerable.

I’ve always shared my love for Yoga with others and managed to send quite a few friends down the Yoga path.

I am Dutch (from Indian extraction) and moved to Cork from Sydney in 2004. After I had my second child I started going to Diane Howley’s Vinyasa flow classes. And that’s where I was properly bitten by the Yoga bug.

My two children are at an age now where I can reclaim more time for myself and I decided in 2017 to become a Yoga instructor/teacher. I trained with some amazing Yoga teachers with Yoga Diploma Cork.

My “Yoga for Absolute Beginners” classes are suitable for both men and women who have never done Yoga before but would love to discover the myriad of benefits it has to offer.

I hope to welcome you soon into my Yoga family.
